the winners of the german design award 2020, the prize dedicated to the excellences of international design and organised by the german design council, have been revealed
The #PedraliPalaceofWonders stand, designed by the Milanese architectural studio Calvi Brambilla for the Salone del Mobile.Milano 2019, has been awarded with the GOLD best recognition in the Excellent Architecture - Fair and Exhibition category.
The stand, a single volume with a markedly architectural feel, featured longitudinal openings set at a 45° angle that created seamless visual continuity between the inside and out, allowing visitors who were strolling along the corridors to peek in and set off on a journey to discover the rooms of this palace. Real interiors in which the mood was created by the products themselves. Each of these “frames of life” was interrupted by what was essentially a break with the composition, leaving space for a rational, explanatory component. The elements used for the set – from the floor to the walls, even the decorative objects – had been cut. The objective was to put the focus on the products themselves.
The award ceremony will be taking place in Frankfurt on February 7th, 2020.
