Automation "Fili d'Erba" is an automated warehouse designed by CZA – Cino Zucchi Architetti for Pedrali within the Mornico al Serio production complex in Bergamo.
Opened in 2016, "Fili d'Erba" is a state-of-the-art, fully automated facility that operates 24/7 for the storage of 16,880 pallets of finished and semi-finished products.

Innovation The warehouse volume results from an assessment study of current and future production, handling and storage flows. The 29-metre high building covers a total area of 7,000 square meters connected to the existing industrial area via a skytrain and ten self-steering shuttles. These bring the pallets to the automated warehouse, where they are carried horizontally and vertically along macro scaffoldings by five lifts. On the inside, this automated warehouse is a perfectly oiled machine, and on the outside, an innovative project of industrial architecture.
Exterior design The exterior design creates a link with the surrounding agricultural landscape. The warehouse’s four walls are covered in smooth insulated panels the colour of natural aluminium. Above them, a series of extruded aluminium profiles in three shades of green generate a pattern formed by a combination of vertical and inclined lines reminiscent of gigantic "grass blades" that punctuate and define the façades.
