Beyond wood: 20 years of passion and Italian know-how
Beyond wood: 20 years of passion and Italian know-how
2025 marks for Pedrali 20 years of its wooden furniture manufactory in Manzano, located in the heart of the Friuli-Venezia Giulia Chair District.
The Manzano manufactory is a testament to how much the company believed in the know-how of the territory and its people. In 2005, Pedrali chose to rely on Italian expertise and highly specialised craftsmanship to establish high-quality wooden production.
The challenge was to replicate the Pedrali philosophy in the wood sector, creating products with industrial design and outstanding quality, through a production process fully managed in-house, with complete control over the entire supply chain.
A key element of Pedrali approach has been the involvement of designers, which has allowed to develop products that age gracefully, with an international character and design strength worth investing in for the long term.
In 2008, the company explored new possibilities in terms of wood processing with the Frida chair, designed by Odo Fioravanti. The chair’s most extraordinary feature is the superposition of a three-dimensional curved plywood shell on a solid wood frame. An achievement recognised in 2011, with the XXII ADI Compasso d'Oro.
Drawing from the origins and know-how of the Manzano factory, to celebrate this important anniversary, Pedrali presented Griante: the company’s first wooden chair specifically created for outdoor use. Designed by CMP Design, Griante features a teak frame and a handwoven polypropylene yarn belt.
Products made from wood are FSC® C114358 certified and finished with water-based coatings composed mostly of plant-based resins.
The Manzano manufactory was expanded in 2019 to cover 20,000 m². At the same time, 700 m² of photovoltaic panels were installed and all interior and exterior lighting was converted to LED: these investments aim to reduce the company’s environmental impact in terms of CO2 equivalent emissions.
