Malmö: 10 years together

Pedrali celebrates the tenth anniversary of the collection designed by CMP Design
2022 marks for Pedrali a special anniversary: ten years of Malmö collection designed by CMP Design. A collection which in its name evokes warmth sensations and materialises the intrinsic value of the “chair” object as a symbol of conviviality, a predisposition for togetherness, to social gatherings.
Malmö elements appear in their pure construction: a curved plywood shell looks suspended, placed on a solid ash wood frame. The structural frame is constructed to be seen as little as possible, contributing to the sensation of visual lightness of the object.
The sinuous legs taper naturally, conveying a sense of lightness and elegance.
The armrest connects the legs in an organic and visually soft way. The external line of the armrest is in continuity with the curve of the backrest, as if the seat stretched out in an embrace. A thickening of the section, near the person's hand, invites the contact of natural matter.
On this regard, Malmö collection is FSC® C114358 certified and painted with water-based coatings composed mostly of plant-derived resins.
The collection, including chair, armchair, also in lounge version, and barstool, was conceived as a welcoming object, featuring soft lines, providing even greater comfort with their upholstered versions in fabric, leather, or genuine hard leather. Table and coffee tables, available in many sizes, complete the family.
Malmö armchairs have been selected to furnish hospitality contexts like Milano Verticale, the iconic urban design hotel by Una Esperienze, located in the heart of Milan and designed by Vudafieri-Saverino Partners. Aimed at overcoming the traditional concept of “hotel”, this space opens to the city and serves as a place for urban socialisation, fostering a renewed and conscious idea of conviviality.
Thanks to the warmth evoked by wood, this collection seamlessly fit within Chalet Pinocchio, a peaceful and comfortable place in Brentonico, in the Southern area of Trentino Alto Adige. Here the desire to cuddle the guests is confirmed by the presence of a lounge area where they can sip a glass of wine or read a good book comfortably seated on the Malmö and Malmö Relax armchairs while admiring the surrounding landscape.
Moving to workspaces, this collection fits in flexible and versatile environments, such as Microsoft offices in Lisbon, designed by OPENBOOK Architecture and Vector Mais, or BIC Bulgarian offices, in Sofia, designed by MoVe Architects.
Malmö armchairs give life to small corners for socialising within two projects by DEGW located in Milan: Microsoft House and Le Village by CA. The barstools from the collection were selected for Amazon Indian offices in Hyderabad & Chennai.
