For the fifth consecutive year, Pedrali joins the project “alternanza scuola-lavoro” (school-to-work apprenticeship) with “La Traccia” high school in Calcinate. “Home made toys” is the name of the project that has been developed this year whose protagonists are the art school students of the 4th grade class, who had the possibility to work in complete synergy with the designer Odo Fioravanti.
A great learning experience that combines knowledge and know-how, aiming to guide the ambitions of the younger generation and tie education to the real world. Environmental sustainability, understood as reuse and recycling, is at the heart of the project. “The starting point was finding a way, together with the students, to give a second life to the cardboard boxes of Pedrali’s products, rethinking them as toys/objects that parents could build with their children” – explains Odo Fioravanti. The result is a very diverse set of creations that the guys have built with their own hands, all accompanied by a little brochure with the instructions, to make sure that everyone could replicate them.
Odo Fioravanti has been dealing with industrial design since 2003, experimenting with graphics and exhibition design. His projects have been awarded international prizes and he has been lecturer in various schools of design and universities such as Politecnico di Milano, Iuav University in Venice, Domus Academy and the Haute école d’art et de design (Head) in Geneva. Fioravanti’s works have been displayed in several international exhibitions, among which his personal one “Industrious Design”, which took place in 2010 at the Design museum of Triennale di Milano. In 2011 he won the Compasso d’Oro ADI with the wooden chair “Frida” by Pedrali.
The projects were presented on Friday 1st June in the exhibition space during “C’è bisogno di me”, the 18th edition of the traditional end-of-the-year festival organized by La Traccia school in Calcinate, scheduled from May 31st to June 10th.
